As the Pastor of St. Paul’s Parish it is my pleasure to offer these words of welcome to our school’s website. St. Paul's Parish is blessed to have this school be such an integral and vital part of our parish because it is a very special community of learning. Here are some of the reasons why that is the case.
Saint Paul School has grown since its inception as a junior high school in 1958. In the mid 1970's it became a K - 8 school and it now welcomes students beginning in Pre-K 3. Now more than 60 years since our doors first opened there have been many physical changes to the building including an addition in 2004 to meet changing times and needs. Within the last few years that has meant an expanded use of technology and enhanced security systems. Here at Saint Paul's we are able to blend those changes and advancements with the Unchangeable. We do that by rooting ourselves and our students firmly in the Gospel of Jesus which gives meaning and purpose to these young lives and provides them with life-long values and lessons that are nurtured in faith, family and service of each other.
We are able to blend these two realities through an excellent curriculum that stresses both the students’ academic and spiritual formation. Our athletic and co-curricular programs also help broaden the student’s opportunities and experiences. All of this is done in a safe, nurturing, caring, and serious academic environment. At Saint Paul's students learn to think critically, but also how to love tenderly by serving their God through one another. Students use the latest technology, but also learn to open their hearts in prayer to come to know their God who loves them so much. They learn the importance of discipline and how to study effectively, but also how to be generous in sharing their God-given gifts. Students graduating from Saint Paul's exceed state and national benchmarks as evidenced by our exemplary standardized test scores and their placement in some of the area’s best high schools. More important though, they leave with a solid foundation in how to live rightly in the world rooted in the Gospel and in their faith.
While Saint Paul's is a parish school we serve a diverse population from 16 towns and 22 parishes from throughout Central Connecticut. I encourage you to come and visit, take a tour, meet our principal, Mrs. Jill Conaway, as well as our truly dedicated faculty and staff. We would welcome the opportunity to partner with you in laying the foundation for your child’s education. Parenting has never been easy, but those challenges seem even more so in our society today. A Saint Paul’s education will help your daughter or son excel academically, but will also help you reinforce the values of the Christian faith and help them know where they have come from and where they are going. Attaining knowledge and skills is important, but knowing how to put that knowledge to good use and to come to know their own importance to God, that is truly priceless. I hope I will have the opportunity to meet you and welcome you to Saint Paul's!
Peace and All Good,
Fr. Joseph Benicewicz, OFM Conv.
