Captain Rory Walsh graduated in 1971 and was also a member of our champion basketball team. After that, he attended St. Thomas Aquinas High School where he continued playing basketball and received an athletic scholarship to Western New England University.
After college, he made the decision to join the Marine Corps as an officer, just 14 days later. His dedication and commitment have been exceptional. He was an OCS Honorman from Marine Corps officer training in the summer of 1977. Throughout his career, he served in Iraq and the Philippines, leading Marine units of up to 350 people at a time. In 1991, he led the advance party into Northern Iraq to initiate Operation PROVIDE COMFORT, the Kurdish relief effort on the border with Turkey.
We are incredibly grateful for his time in the service and for sharing his inspiring story.
