Hello, my name is Karen Lavoie and I love teaching at SPS. I am a graduate of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ). In my over two decades in the classroom, I have taught PreK-3, PreK-4, Kindergarten, 2nd, and 3rd grades. I also had the honor of being a stay at home mom for many years.
I live in West Hartford with my husband, Peter and our dog, Ranger. We have two adult sons - Alexander and his wife Michelle, and Benjamin. I am a member of the Church of Saint Peter Claver and I served on the School Board for Saint Timothy Middle School for many years. I graduated from all Catholic Schools: Saint Thomas the Apostle School, Northwest Catholic High School, and USJ. A fun fact about my dad, Fr. Joseph Whittel, is that he received all seven sacraments. He was ordained a priest at the age of 65 and was extremely active in his ministry until his death, 15 years later. When I am not at school, I love to spend time with my family, read, travel, play board games, cheer on the Dallas Cowboys, and kayak the waters of Ossipee Lake in New Hampshire.
